Players have four more opportunities in next five weeks to book a spot at The Club at Carlton Woods

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (March 4, 2024) – After the first five official LPGA Tour events of the season, including the first two legs of the Asian Swing the past two weeks, the field for The Chevron Championship is coming into sharper focus.

The competition was fierce over the course of four days at the Honda LPGA Thailand, played on Siam Country Club’s Old Course in Chonburi, Thailand. Patty Tavatanakit, a Thai native earned her first LPGA Tour victory at The Chevron Championship in 2021, captured her second career title with a one-stroke victory over Albane Valenzuela. The following week, Australia’s Hannah Green birdied her final three holes to take a one-stroke victory over Celine Boutier at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, held on the Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.

Players who have yet to secure a spot in The Chevron Championship field will have four opportunities over the next five weeks to play their way in with a win or through the Race to the CME Globe standings going into The Chevron Championship. The LPGA Tour next heads to Hainan Island in the People’s Republic of China for the Blue Bay LPGA, before returning to the United States for three competitions across California, Arizona and Nevada. The Chevron field will be finalized on April 7, following the competition of the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards in Las Vegas.

From April 17-21, Houston-area sports fans will have a front-row seat to watch the brightest stars in women’s golf shine on its biggest stage as the world’s best compete for the first major championship of the 2024 LPGA Tour season.

Last week, The Chevron Championship announced that Texas native Angela Stanford will receive a sponsor exemption into the 2024 major. Stanford, a member of the LPGA Tour since 2001, will compete in her 98th consecutive major championship, the longest active major streak in professional golf.

As part of its mission to provide amateurs with greater access and the opportunity to showcase their talent, The Chevron Championship also offers six spots for qualifying amateurs from key international amateur tournaments. Four of those spots have been locked down by Chun-Wei Wu of Chinese Taipei, winner of the 2024 Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific; Germany’s Chiara Horder, winner of the 2023 Women’s Amateur Championship; America’s Megan Schofill, winner of the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship; and Argentina’s Ela Anacona, winner of the 2024 Women’s Latin America Amateur Championship.

The remaining amateur spots will be awarded in April to the winners of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the Chevron Silverado Showdown.
