American superstar Nelly Korda picked up her second Chevron Championship title on Sunday in Houston, Texas, winning by five shots over Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit and the People’s Republic of China’s Ruoning Yin.

It’s Korda’s second victory of the 2026 LPGA Tour season, as the 27-year-old won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions to kick off her 10th year on Tour, and her latest triumph in Texas has several broad historical and statistical implications.

One of those notable nuggets—several of which in this story have come from golf stats guru Justin Ray—is that Korda now has as many titles as the number of players that have beaten her in the five tournaments in which she has teed it up this year. Nelly has only fallen to two athletes in 2026, finishing runner-up to Hyo Joo Kim at both the Fortinet Founders Cup and Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass and tied for second in the Aramco Championship, an event that was won by her fellow American Lauren Coughlin at Shadow Creek.

Another fun fact is that Korda is the first athlete since Amy Alcott at the 1991 edition of The Chevron Championship to win a major tournament wire-to-wire after holding a multiple-stroke lead after every round. She’s the seventh American to win her third major title before the age of 28, and the second athlete in the 2020 era to win three majors, alongside Australian Minjee Lee. Her five-stroke margin of victory is the largest by a wire-to-wire winner since Yani Tseng 10-shot triumph at the 2011 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

And, oh by the way, Korda is slated to return to Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 on Monday, Apr. 27, reclaiming the top spot for the first time since Jeeno Thitikul overtook the American last August. It will mark her 109th career week in the first position, which ties her with five-time major champion Tseng.

But one of the more significant statistical spoils of her latest major victory pertains to her LPGA Hall of Fame points.

With her major championship victory at Memorial Park Golf Course, the 27-year-old earned two points toward the Hall of Fame, which raises her point total to 22 and currently has her sitting within five points of automatically qualifying for one of the most exclusive halls of fame in all of sports.

Only 35 other women are in the LPGA Hall of Fame, the most recent of whom to join the annals of history is Lydia Ko, who gained entry when she won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics to secure her 27th and final qualifying point.

Korda had earned 10 points before the 2024 LPGA Tour season, winning gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and racking up eight victories, one of which was a major title that she collected at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club.

She then almost doubled that total in 2024, winning seven times—one of which was The Chevron Championship—and securing Rolex Player of the Year honors, a season-long performance that earned Korda nine more Hall of Fame points. Nelly’s win at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club earlier this season then saw her reach her pre-Chevron 20-point total.

Now, five points stand between Korda and a spot among some of the most legendary names in all of women’s golf. That might sound like a lot, particularly with how many times Lydia flirted with the 27-point threshold in 2024 before finally getting over the line in France.

But Nelly Korda has proven that making history is one of her favorite things to do on the golf course, and considering this tear that she’s been on across her first five starts of 2026, five points—at this juncture anyway—feels like nothing.
