GLOBAL SPORTING ICONS TOUCH DOWN AT ANA INSPIRING WOMEN IN SPORTS CONFERENCE TO LIFT LPGA’S FIRST MAJOR TO NEW HEIGHTS

March 29, 2017

Some of the world’s most celebrated and inspirational sports stars landed into the second annual ANA Inspiring Women in Sports conference ahead of the LPGA’s first major of the year, the ANA Inspiration.

Amongst the sporting icons tennis legend and social justice pioneer Billie Jean King, former world No. 1 tennis star Maria Sharapova, three-time Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Aly Raisman and ANA Inspiration champion Lexi Thompson briefly traded golf swings for tennis strokes on the 18th hole before sharing their inspiring stories to a sell-out audience at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The historic golf tournament which was founded by Dinah Shore is credited with providing much early momentum and support to empower women in sport. The tradition of a new conference was added to the tournament week line-up last year and offers a perfect platform to continue breaking down barriers and inspiring future generations with an impact that goes far beyond the game of golf.

Hosted by two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion, Julie Foudy, the event saw Paralympic swimmer Victoria Arlen receive the 2017 ANA Inspiration Award.
