Chevron Joins The Nelly Invitational as Presenting Sponsor

February 25, 2025
The American Junior Golf Association is proud to announce Chevron’s historic three-year commitment to The Nelly Invitational, reinforcing its dedication to the next generation of golfers.
As part of this partnership, The Nelly Invitational presented by Chevron will offer players $2,000 travel stipends, for entry fees, flights, hotels and rental cars, the highest in AJGA history for a stroke-play event. Each international player will receive an additional $500 stipend. This initiative underscores a shared commitment to helping reduce barriers for elite girl golfers from across the globe and to begin setting a new standard for competitive excellence.
The Nelly Invitational’s emphasis on excellence includes a strengthened field, with AJGA inviting the top 10 eligible international players that may not be AJGA members and/or didn’t previously qualify for the event through the Rolex AJGA Rankings ensuring strong worldwide competition. Additionally, this event will make history by awarding the tournament champion an exemption into the following year’s The Chevron Championship, marking the first-ever AJGA tournament to offer a direct entry into a major championship.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Chevron to The Nelly Invitational,” said Nelly Korda, Olympic gold medalist and current World No. 1. “With their support, we’re creating an event that not only brings together some of the best girls from around the world but also provides a platform to inspire and empower the next generation. Chevron’s investment helps us build on last year’s success and take this event even further.”
“Chevron is honored to partner with Nelly and the AJGA to open doors for young athletes who embody excellence, determination, and the spirit of golf,” said Laura Lane, Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Chevron. “Supporting events like this are the best way to build a foundation for the future of the sport. We’re excited to remove barriers to competition and help these young girl golfers achieve their dreams in an inclusive and inspiring environment.”
Building on the success of its inaugural year, The Nelly Invitational is becoming one of the premier events in junior golf. Highlights from last year’s tournament included an incredible lineup of gifts for participants, the TaylorMade truck providing custom club fitting and personal appearances by Nelly Korda herself. With Chevron’s partnership, the tournament aims to create even more memorable moments for players and fans alike.
“Partnering with Chevron allows us to reduce financial barriers from players for what will become one of the top girls’ events worldwide along with providing a major exemption for the champion,” said Jason Etzen, Chief Business Officer of the AJGA. “Chevron is establishing itself as a catalyst for positive change in golf at all levels. Its focus on removing barriers and promoting competition matches perfectly to the AJGA. I can’t wait to see what we all achieve together.”
The Nelly Invitational presented by Chevron will take place at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, from May 1-4, 2025. For more information on the tournament and player applications, visit ajga.org.
