Playing Field is Set for The Chevron Championship

April 21, 2025
132 of the world’s best female golfers will compete in LPGA Tour’s first major
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (April 21, 2025) – The LPGA Tour’s first major championship of the 2025 season is upon us, as The Chevron Championship gets underway this week at The Club at Carlton Woods, and the full 132-player field is officially set.
Among the LPGA Tour stars set to compete this week are 2024 champion and 2020 Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda, 2024 Olympic gold medalist and 2016 champion Lydia Ko, 2014 champion Lexi Thompson, The Woodlands native and 2011 champion Stacy Lewis, and 2023 champion Lilia Vu. In all, 24 of the top 25 players in the current Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings are on the entry list.
The field boasts all eight winners from the 2025 LPGA Tour season, including Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad, who won last week’s event in suburban Los Angeles and will make her debut in The Chevron Championship. There are 66 all-time LPGA Tour winners in the field, representing 276 total victories and 49 major titles. A total of 46 athletes have represented their countries and regions at the Olympics, while 30 players have competed in the Solheim Cup and 33 in the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown.
The purse for The Chevron Championship will be elevated to $8 million in 2025, an increase of $100,000. As part of the purse, The Chevron Championship guarantees an LPGA Tour-best $10,000 minimum stipend to every player in the field.
This year, every competitor will be able to travel to and from the course in luxurious comfort thanks to complimentary Cadillac vehicles provided through the tournament’s recently announced sponsorship agreement with the automaker that has defined American luxury for decades.
Past champions receive complimentary Bentley vehicles for the week and are treated to a world-class Champions Dinner on Monday of tournament week. The menu for the Champions Dinner is crafted by the defending champion and prepared by world-renowned chef Thomas Keller.
The LPGA Tour’s first major gets underway on Thursday morning, with players taking part in the pro-am on Tuesday and playing practice rounds on Wednesday. By late Sunday afternoon, one player will have earned the opportunity to lift the Dinah Shore Trophy, take the traditional leap into the lake and permanently be referred to as a major champion.
In addition to Lewis, a pair of golfers have strong ties to the Houston area. Houston native Gurleen Kaurwill make her professional debut in her hometown major, having played as an amateur in 2022; and Lauren Coughlin, whose parents live minutes from The Club at Carlton Woods, will look to capitalize on her quasi-home course advantage for a second consecutive year after finishing third in 2024. Fellow Texans Kristin Gillman (Austin) and Cheyenne Knight (Aledo) will each look to capture a first major title in their home state.

Golf fans of all ages are warmly encouraged to experience the thrill of major tournament play first-hand. Daily Spectator Passes start at $45 if purchased in advance, while weekly admission for all four days of play starts at $215. Once again this year, juniors aged 17 and under will receive complimentary admission with the purchase of an accompanying adult ticket; and active duty and retired members of the Armed Services are entitled to discounted pricing on all tickets.
Earlier this spring, Chevron announced a commitment to donate $5 for each purchase of a general admission Spectator Pass to support area public and charter school teachers through its Fuel Your School initiative. Chevron will donate these funds to DonorsChoose, a nationwide nonprofit organization that will use Chevron’s donations to fund classroom project requests from eligible schools in The Woodlands, Montgomery and Spring, Texas.
Since 2010, Chevron has collaborated with DonorsChoose to support over 42,000 teachers in the communities where it operates, bringing over $60 million of resources to the communities that it serves.
Fans can purchase tickets or view details on ticket options at SeatGeek.com. Daily and weekly ticket and hospitality packages are available to help fans enjoy every moment of the action at The Club at Carlton Woods.
