What to Look For at The Chevron Championship This Week
April 16, 2024
Tournament week kicks off Tuesday with Official Pro-Am; practice rounds on Wednesday; competition begins Thursday
The first major of the season for the LPGA Tour is finally here, as The Chevron Championship gets underway this week at The Club at Carlton Woods. Featuring a star-studded field of the best golfers on the planet and an updated Jack Nicklaus-designed course, the Chevron promises to deliver unforgettable thrills, action and drama throughout the weekend.
From April 17-21, the best female golfers on the planet will come together north of Houston to vie for the chance to become a major champion or, for a few, add another major championship to their résumé. Fans can purchase tickets to The Chevron Championship or view details on ticket options at SeatGeek.com. Adult general admission tickets start at $25, and kids age 17 and under are free with an adult ticket.
The field is headlined by the brightest stars in golf, including the red-hot Rolex Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda, who enters The Chevron on a four-tournament winning streak, and LPGA icon Lydia Ko, who could secure her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame with a win this weekend. Defending Chevron champion and Rolex Rankings No. 2 Lilia Vu isn’t ready to relinquish her hold on the Dinah Shore Trophy yet, either.
The players will take the course on Wednesday for practice rounds, which are open to spectators and offer the opportunity to watch the professionals up close in a more relaxed setting. Beginning Thursday, it’s all business as the tournament officially gets underway.
There are a wide range of activities for spectators of all ages to enjoy outside the ropes, as well. From autographs and selfies with the players, to the opportunity to design (and potentially win) your own golf shoes, to a STEM lab where guests can create prototype equipment, to the chance to play the same course as the pros in a swing simulator, there truly is something for everyone.
The tournament will also raise money for worthy causes in a variety of ways throughout the weekend. Through the Chevron Challenge, Chevron will donate $10,000 for every birdie made on the 17th hole all weekend to a number of charitable organizations. For any hole-in-ones scored on the par-3 hole, Chevron will donate $1 million to the pool.
Spectators can support worthy charities through the Chip for Charity, where they can take a chip shot toward the floating Texas-shaped green in the middle of the lake with the proceeds going to a different local charity each day. The merchandise store will also feature a pair of clothing lines, the Dream Big Collection and the Trophy Collection, which support the LPGA’s efforts to grow the game.
Daily and weekly General Admission tickets start at just $25 and include access to tournament grounds, various open seating options across the course and food and beverage options available for purchase at concessions stands. Juniors age 17 and under are free with an adult ticket.
Fans can enjoy the taste of an upgraded hospitality experience at the St. Luke’s Health Pavilion, where guests will receive an upgraded experience that features all-inclusive food and non-alcoholic beverages, premium views, access to upgraded restroom facilities and more. Alcoholic beverages are available for those over 21 through four redeemable coupons, included with ticket purchase. A portion of the proceeds from St. Luke’s Health Pavilion tickets will benefit a local charity.
